Reaver Sword & Sorcery Roleplaying Game is a tabletop fantasy-action-adventure game that utilizes a die-chain mechanic that gets out of the way of gameplay and allows the narrative to take precedence. Players take on the roles of mighty warriors, daring rogues, and cunning sorcerers to test their mettle against nefarious cults, supernatural horrors, and a harsh, uncaring world—all in search of fortune and glory!

Reaver seeks to replicate the style of Sword and Sorcery that is a simple side-step from historical adventure fiction and is inspired by works created by Robert E. Howard (Bran Mak Morn, Conan), Charles Saunders (Imaro, Dossouye), Bernard Cornwell (The Warlord Chronicles, The Last Kingdom), and Simon Scarrow (Eagles of the Empire), among others. Reaver couples heroism, dark sorcery, and weird horror, with gritty realism and a pseudo-historical setting. If you enjoy these works and films like Conan the Barbarian and The Northman, that's the mix Reaver brings to your gaming table! Get your Sword & Sorcery with more grit and less gonzo with Reaver!

  • All-in-one rulebook includes—character creation, game rules, journeys, mass combat, adversaries, artifacts, and much more.
  • Intuitive die-chain mechanic that calls for the d4, d5, d6, d8, d10, d12, d14, d16, and d20. Modifiers move the die up and down the chain, facilitating quick action resolution and narrative gameplay. No special dice needed --- the "funky dice" can be simulated with standard dice!
  • Characters have six Attributes (Brawn, Agility, Stamina, Cunning, Intuition, and Presence), an Ancestry that denotes their background and nationality; a Class (Barbarian, Berserker, Fighter, Magus, Priest (Druid, Shaman, Theist), Rogue, Scout, and Sorcerer (Hermeticist, Mystic, Witch) that encompasses their core role and grants their primary abilities; and Careers that depict the character's general skills
  • No Skills: There is no dedicated skill system—Careers grant an assumed set of skills and the player must advocate for when their Career may affect a die roll
  • Fast, player-facing combat.
  • Dark Sorcery: Reaver embraces the archetypal dark sorcery of Sword & Sorcery tales with a roll-to-cast system. Success allows for astounding magic, while failure results in weakening your magical ability and possibly causing some catastrophe or gaining corruption.
  • Metacurrency for players and gamemasters.
  • Deadly Ancient-World Setting: Reaver takes cues from the world-building of Robert E. Howard and presents an ancient-world setting, The Sagas of Cennor, complete with  history, geography, astronomy, religion, plot hooks, and more. Cennor is a world inspired by our own ancient world and the classic works of Sword & Sorcery, with a bit of H.P. Lovecraft and Clark Ashton Smith mixed in.
  • Download includes the fully-hyperlinked Core Rulebook PDF in low, medium, and high resolutions, as well as the form-fillable Reaver Character sheet.
